BTH Gear provides the following Safety Guidelines for all of our below the hook products. Please read the safety tags, along with the proper warning and safety instructions before operating any lifting device. Remove from Service any device that does not have a proper tag.

BTH Gear Warning & Safety Instructions

  • Contact the proper personnel for use of a lifting device
  • Contact the lifting device mfg. or other qualified persons for any operational concerns
  • Inspect the lifting device prior to every use
  • Confirm any attached rigging is correct for the lifting device.
  • Never exceed:
    • RC-Rated Capacity
    • WLL- Working Load Limit,
    • SWL- Safe Working Load of the lifting device
  • Never cut, weld, or modify any lifting device
  • Be aware of pinch points during handling
  • Ensure operator is properly trained in operating the lifting device
  • Understand the manufacturer’s instructions and warnings
  • Stay clear of all lifted loads
  • Never stand or travel below a lifted load
  • Remove lifting device immediately from service if:
    • the metal tag is damaged, ineligible, or missing
    • the load rating is not known
    • or the lifting device has been overloaded, damaged, or modified

Per ASME all bellow the hook lifting gear must be in compliance for use.
Remove from service if the device:

  • Does not have a tag with the “tag requirements” clearly visible
  • The device has been overloaded
  • The device has been modified
